The organizers of renowned social impact film festival, popularly known as Africa Film For Impact Festival AFFIF, has asked filmmakers in Africa to stop submission of their social impact films 2023, as this year’s entries closed today, March 31s, 2023. in this case AFRIF has ordered filmakers wish to receive their deserved recognition, honours, accolades and awards, as support for their excellent efforts in impacting the World with African movies, to patiently wait for next year’s entries.

In press statement released by the organizers ahead of festival which will hold from June 26-30, 2023, the encourage filmmakers to keep on submitting their films so as to beat the March 31st closing date for film submission.

ln the public statement, AFFIF revealed that this year’s festival will host over 1,500 filmmakers, social development stakeholders, CSOs and NGOs, International donors, and more, drive social, political, and economic development using films.

They also disclosed that the theme for this year’s event is : ” New Narratives” . “The event will feature: Film Screening, Panel Discussion, Impact Award Ceremony, Pitch For Funders and Workshop”, the statement hinted.

Africa Film for Impact Festival (AFFIF) which is on two running, is dedicated to showcasing and empowering films and filmmakers committed to Social Change themes in movie production across Africa, and the world.

“The theme for the 2023 edition of the festival is “NEW NARRATIVES”, and is aimed at driving New Narratives about Africa. The festival, which hosted a virtual access edition in 2020 due to the Covid19 pandemic, will hold for the first time a physical edition in 2023, at the Silverbird Cinemas, 1161 Memorial Drive, by Musa Yar Adua Centre, Central Business District Abuja, while also providing global audience access to the festival virtually,
” the statement further informed.

The well-structured sessions, It will be a five day event. “The 5-Day hybrid film festival will engage Short and Feature Narrative and Documentary Films screenings, Master Classes, Panel Discussions, Workshops, and Impact Awards, to address Social Themes across; Democracy, Accountability & Anti-Corruption, Human Rights, Human Trafficking, Gender Equity, Sexual & Gender Based Violence, Climate Change, Drug Abuse & Drug Trafficking, Health, Peace-Security and Counter Terrorism, Digital Rights, Technology as a tool for social change, among other. Thereafter, the official selections for the festival will be announced on May 1, 2023”.

AFFIF stated that partnerships and opportunities are available for organizations and individuals to partner with Africa Film For Impact Festival (AFF(F) in any capacity.

IMPACT AWARDS
The 2023 Africa Film For Impact Festival will climax with an Impact Award Ceremony, which will premiere the closing film for the festival, and also host a number of other entertaining and impact performances including Music, Comedy, Poetry/Spoken Word, and the Impact Awards.

– Best film on DEMOCRACY, ACCOUNTABILITY & ANTI-CORRUPTION

– Best film on WOMEN EMPOWERMENT & GENDER EQUITY

– Best film on SEXUAL & GENDER BASED VIOLENCE

– Best film on HUMAN TRAFFICKING

– Best film on DRUG ABUSE & DRUG TRAFFICKING

– Best film on MIGRATION

– Best film on CLIMATE CHANGE

– Best film on HUMAN RIGHT

– Best film on PEACE, SECURITY & COUNTER-TERRORISM

– Best film on YOUTH EMPOWEREMENT & CRIME REDUCTION

– Best film on HEALTH

– Best film on TECHNOLOGY AS A TOOL FOR SOCIAL CHANGE

– Best DOCUMENTARY

– Best ANIMATION

– OVERALL BEST FILM ON SOCIAL CHANGE

AFFIF also noted that films or projects, as it is technically refered to here, if completed prior to January 1, 2020, are not eligible for submission.
