Abuja Int’l Carnival Returns After 8 Years- Minister | The Legend News

The Abuja International Carnival, a spectacle that showcases the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria, is set to return after an eight-year hiatus.

The Minister of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, announced a statement released by her Special Assistant on Media, Nneka Ikem Anibeze, expressing her excitement and enthusiasm for the event.

According to the Minister, the Abuja International Carnival is a significant event in Nigeria’s cultural calendar, and its return is a testament to the government’s commitment to promoting cultural diversity and supporting the creative economy. “We are thrilled to bring back this iconic event, which has been missed by many.

The Abuja International Carnival is a platform that showcases our country’s rich cultural heritage, and we are eager to share it with the world once again,” she said.

The Minister revealed that the carnival will take place in November 2024 and will feature a range of activities, including street shows, musical concerts, boat regatta, Durbar, children’s Fiesta, and exhibitions.

She added that the event will bring together people from around the world, making it an international spectacle.
The Managing Director of Yankee Entertainment, Kehinde Adegbite (Mallam Yankee), who is partnering with the Ministry to organize the event, assured that the carnival will be the biggest ever.

“We are working tirelessly to ensure that this year’s carnival surpasses previous ones. We have lined up an array of exciting activities that will showcase the best of Nigerian culture and creativity,” he said.

The Director of Entertainment and Creative Economy, Mrs. Ugochi Akudo-Nwosu, expressed gratitude to the Minister for her support and enthusiasm, emphasizing the importance of showcasing Nigerian culture and creativity.

“We are grateful to the Minister for her passion and commitment to the creative industry. This event will not only promote our culture but also provide economic opportunities for our artists and entrepreneurs,” she said.
The Abuja International Carnival was last held in 2016, and its return is a welcome development for many Nigerians who have missed the excitement and spectacle of the event.
