The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results.
The Registrar of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, made this known while briefing newsmen at the NECO headquarters on Thursday in Minna, Niger State.
The Registrar said candidates can proceed to its website to access their results.
He said the number of candidates who registered for its 2024 SSCE is 1,376,423, representing 706,950 males and 669,473 females.
The number of candidates that sat the exam Prof Wushishi said is 1,367,736, representing 702,112 males and 665,624 females.
He said a total of 828,284 candidates had five credits and above, including English and Mathematics.
This represents 60.55 percent.
The number of candidates with five credits and above, irrespective of English and Mathematics is 1,147,597, representing 83.90 percent.
The number of candidates involved in malpractice in 2024 is 8,437 as against 12,030 in 2023.
NECO said this amounts to a reduction of 30.1 percent.
It said 40 schools were found to have been involved in mass cheating across 17 states.
The council said the schools will be invited for discussion, after which appropriate sanctions will be applied.
“One school in Ekiti was recommended for de-recognition for Mass Cheating in 2 core subjects and 01 Science subject,” it said.
“Similarly, 21 supervisors were recommended for blacklisting due to poor supervision, aiding and abetting, abscondment, extortion, drunkenness and negligence, in 12 states.”
