On Tuesday, 14th of February, at the Nigerian Embassy, the elected executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC), South Africa Chapter were sworn into office as stipulated in the party constitution.
Consequent to the successful outcome of the electoral process which culminated in a general election held on the 9th December 2022, ushered into office a united Executive Members headed by Otunba (Hon.)Toyin Olamilere Oyekanmi. Conduct, which is following Article 20; sub-article 1 “ All offices in the organs of the Party under this constitution shall be filled by democratically conducted elections at the respective National Convention and Congresses subject, which possible, to consensus”.
In pursuant of the validation of this mandate vis a vis, the recognition from the national headquarter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja Nigeria as mandated in Article 9.4; sub-article 6 of the constitution – “The local and national chapters of the Party outside Nigeria shall forward the list of duly ELECTED Executive Committee at their congresses to the National Working Committee for approval” A political journey was embarked upon to Abuja- Nigeria, by the elected Chairman in the person of Hon. Oluwatoyin Olamilere Oyekanmi.
The Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa, Ambassador Muhammad Haruna Manta represented the NWC, Nigeria as he administered the Oath of Allegiance & Oath of office to the Executive Members in conjunction with Barrister (Dr) Popoola. PhD
Furthermore, the Ambassador presented the Certificate of Office to 17 elected Executive Members and handed over the Constitution and APC flag to the New Chairman of APCSA – Otunba(Hon) Oluwatoyin Oyekanmi.
He admonished the executives to discharge their duties faithfully and follow the constitution and Manifesto. He urged the executives not to allow personal interests to influence official conduct or official decisions.
All the newly sworn-in executive officers pledged to work assiduously together as a team and also with the mindset to deliver the dividend of democracy to our people in South Africa.
The Chiarman of the party and his cabinet members equally promised to align the chapter with our mother body APC Nigeria, not just for selfish ambition but for the betterment of Nigerian & all APC South Africa members.
On the forthcoming President election in Nigeria; The Chairman of the party in South Africa, (Otunba) Hon. Oluwatoyin Olamilere Oyekanmi alongside his Executive Officers will be in Nigeria,to join “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed TINUBU’S) final campaign which will be held on the 21st of February 2023 at TBS; to demonstrate their commitment/ loyality to the principal and that of the party’s victory as whole.
As it is at the moment; All the newly sworn-in Executive officers have been assigned with the responsibilities of Diaspora/International Election observer’s at their various constituencies in Nigeria, Courtesy of APC Headquarter in Abuja.
However more eloborated inauguration party/convention will be taking in PRETORIA after the Nigerian general elections in March 2023.
