2023: PDP Holds ‘Road Walk’ For Atiku, Adediran In Lagos~The Legend News 

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos state, on Thursday held a ‘ road walk’ for the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the governorship candidate in the state, Dr Olajide Adediran(Jandor).

The road walk which was tagged ‘Umbrella Day’ was attended by the members and supporters of the party.

The enthusiastic members in their thousands wore t-shirts and fez caps of the candidates, openly displayed their umbrella; the symbol of the party, and chanted solidarity songs as they walked from Fadeyi busstop to Maryland area of Ikorodu road

Speaking with journalists, the Chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council for Lagos, Engr. Deji Doherty, said that the party would take over Lagos and Nigeria.

Doherty said that Lagos was important and strategic for PDP because it was stronghold of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PCC Chairman stated that Atiku and Adediran enjoyed massive support from Lagosians, adding that the party was united approaching the poll for victory.

   

He added that Atkiu would accommodate other parties’ candidates in his government if elected, adding that all interests would be protected.

Also speaking, the Director of Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council in Lagos, Hon. Tolagbe Animashaun said that the event was to create awareness for the candidates.

Animashaun explained “The experience has been exhilarating. We were with the Guild of Editors yesterday and Atiku Abubakar told them his agenda. Nigeria is on the road to prosperity under our party.

“We will go round the local governments, and move to the grassroots to promote our candidates. Everything will fall in place as soon as this one is over.

”We have people from Epe, Badagry and other areas of the state staging the walk with us. Our Presidential Candidate is better than others, you know the record of other candidates. Go and tell the people to register and expect prosperity from 2023 under the PDP”.

Also, the Lagos PDP Chairman, Mr Philips Aivoji, said that the party is formidable and enduring as it has been on ground since 1998.

Aivoji stressed that the ‘Umbrella Day’ was significant, adding ” Everybody will come under protection with PDP in power”.

“Even thousands of people from the APC are coming under the umbrella. We are ready to take over Lagos State and Nigeria. Umbrella stands for coverage and we will be under protection as a nation.

“Atiku Abubakar was the Vice President of Nigeria and we know what he did to support former president Olusegun Obasanjo.

“Look at his manifestoes, he promised to bring people together irrespective of tribe or religion,” he said.

Aivoji added that Nigerians from the north to the south want Atiku as the next president of Nigeria, saying that they would vote for him in the 2023 general elections.

In his comments, the Publicity Secretary of the party in Lagos, Mr Hakeem Amode, said that the party is ready to make life better for Nigerians with umbrella, adding that it would give Nigerians a new lease of life.

Amode stated that Adediran would make life better for the people of the state with people-oriented programmes.

“The PDP is coming to make Nigeria and Lagos State better. We have problems with our security, economy and several others. We want to tell Nigerians that what we had eight years ago is better than what we have today.

“We want to change bad leaders and make things better for the country. Under His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, it’s not going to be business as usual with all that we outlined for the people,” he said.

Some of the leaders who attended were, former State Chairman, Capt. Tunji Shelle, former State Secretary, Wahab Owokoniran, former PDP Board of Trustee (BoT), Chief Mrs Aduke Maina, all PDP local government Chairmen, 24 House of Representatives candidates, 3 Senatorial Candidates, and 40 House of Assembly candidates.
